Why are you getting married on Orcas Island?

Orcas is a magical place for us and some of the most special moments of our relationship have been spent on this beaut of an island. Sure, it’s a bit of effort to make it out there from Seattle, but once you arrive, you’ll see why we chose this as the destination to make this most sacred of commitments to each other. In exchange for you hauling yourselves all the way up there, we're hoping to provide you an awesome, unforgettable weekend of kinship, laughter and beautiful moments.

Do I need to reserve a ferry for the way back?

Yes! Though you only need to pay one way (westbound), you still need to reserve a time slot for your desired departure on the way back.

Help! I didn’t get the ferry time I wanted, what do I do now?

First, take a deep breath and welcome yourself to the elite club of commuters disenfranchised by the Washington State Ferries system. Good, now that that’s out of the way, there’s still hope! The final blocks of reservable ferries open up the week of the wedding:

  • For ferries coming to Orcas on Friday 10/4, the reservations open Wednesday 10/2 at 7:00 am pacific time.

  • For ferries returning to Anacortes on Sunday 10/6, the reservations open Friday 10/4 at 7:00 am pacific time.

Visit our Ferry Info Page for links and instructions. NOTE: Book your desired ferry at 7:00 am SHARP! We’re not kidding around, folks, these slots go very quickly and you have to snatch them up right away.

If you still miss out on the desired time, then there is still hope yet! There is a portion of each ferry dedicated to stand-by traffic. If you want to exercise this option, just make sure you arrive well before the departure time, we’re talking an hour minimum though likely longer!

What is the dress code? / What should I wear for ____ event?

Dress code info for each event can be found on our Schedule Page, which has details for all our hosted events.

For your ease, we’ll keep it as simple as possible: For the ceremony/reception on Saturday, wear something nice. A shirt and tie, a nice dress, skirt or pant-suit are fine - many guests we’ve spoken with will be wearing suits and dresses. For all other events, dress how you like in something comfortable and appropriate for the environment (e.g. dress warm if you plan to join us Friday).

What took you so long to make it official?

If you knew us, and hopefully you do since you’re reading this, then you know that the both of us embrace a more leisurely pace to life. Now is the right the time for us to take this leap and we’re overjoyed (joy just doesn’t cut it) to share it with all of you!

I don’t see anything listed Saturday before ceremony, what’s happening then?

This is intentional! Saturday morning and afternoon is you opportunity to do what you will: relax with a good book on your balcony, head into Eastsound and check out the local shops, explore the island end-to-end via scenic drive (it really is lovely!), or whatever you choose to do!

We have a more comprehensive list of things to do and places we like on our aptly named Things To Do Page.

Are you changing your name?

No. Luc didn’t want to take Karissa’s name, so they’ll still be known by the same names by which you’ve always known them.

I don’t have a question, I just wanted to read this page.

We love you.

I have a question that’s not listed here, how do I get a hold of you to ask it?

You can email us both at hello@lucandkarissa.com or send a text to our wedding hotline at 206-800-2310. We both have access to these channels of communications. Of course, you can always reach out to us via the contact info you already have for us, too.
